Investment approach

Greencape's research is grounded in fundamental analysis, with their efforts focused heavily on an intensive and targeted visitation program encompassing all participants in a given supply chain (suppliers, customers, competitors, regulators, past and present management, offshore competitors). Piecing together information from various sources allows Greencape to develop proprietary insights and ultimately arrive at better informed and high conviction investment decisions. Greeencape's investment process involves assessing stocks against set criteria which are then ranked by the Greencape analysts. The analysis is ultimately condensed down to a single stock ranking.

Investment philosophy

The philosophy underpinning Greencape's approach to investing is the belief that equity markets are inefficient, sentiment masks observable fundamentals and qualitative attributes are generally under appreciated. As a result, Greencape believes by focusing on qualitative attributes of a company (management and business strength) there is significant opportunity to identify undervalued stocks.
Investment style

Greencape is an active, bottom-up stock picker. Whilst not targeting a specific investment style and therefore investing in stocks displaying 'value' and 'growth' characteristics, Greencape focus on a company's qualitative attributes, which will generally lead to 'growth' orientated portfolios. This is an outcome of Greencape's bottom up process. As such, Greencape's investment style may be classified as 'growth at a reasonable price' (GARP).
